Fit to Ski will help prepare you to get the most out of your ski holiday and reduce your risk of injury.
About the course
Fit to Ski is an eight-week training programme run by specialist sports physios. It focuses on developing the core muscles, improving balance and building strength, particularly in the leg muscles.
The course consists of four sessions in total, which will take place at fortnightly intervals. During each session, you will complete an exercise programme, which has been specifically designed to prepare your muscles for skiing. You will then continue this programme at home over the following two weeks, before we progress your exercises at the next session.
The initial session will be slightly longer (45 minutes), to allow us to identify your individual needs and goals. Subsequent sessions will last approximately 30 minutes.
You will be provided with a personalised log to record your progress, and this will be tracked by your physiotherapist to ensure the level of exercise is appropriate for you.
What to expect
The sessions will all be held in our physiotherapy gym, but don’t worry, you won’t need any special equipment at home. We will provide you with an exercise band if it is needed for any of the exercises.
The sessions will be on a one-to-one basis with a physiotherapist. If you and a friend/partner both wish to attend together, this may be possible. Please contact us for further details.
It is recommended that you complete your programme at home three times each week. This will enable you to gain maximum benefit from the course, and ensure you are ready to progress to a new level by your next session.
What to wear
Wear comfortable clothing such as a loose top, tracksuit bottoms or shorts and trainers.
The course costs £160 paid in advance (or £181 if sessions are paid for individually).
For existing or previous injuries, we recommend you book a separate consultation.
When to book
The programme is eight weeks long. You can start the course whenever you like. We suggest you time it so that your last session is approximately a week before you go away.
